All things being equal, many employees or candidates may appear to be the same on a resume: same education, same number of years experience, same GPA...so what is the differentiator? Competencies! Competency (often used interchangeably with skill) can be defined as a standardized requirement for a job. If you can identify the desired competencies required for a role, and ideally, for being promoted to additional roles, you can create an effective talent management plan, leading to a sustainable workforce now and for the future. Explore how to identify competencies for roles, build career paths for employee development, offer employees opportunities to increase their level of competency, and ultimately create succession processes that ensure longevity and bench strength within your organization.
