  • Enhance your presentations with simple, fun visuals that you create in real time.
  • Use clichés, idioms and industry jargon as springboards to a deeper understanding of problems and opportunities within your organizations.

About the Presenter:

Mike Artell is an award-winning children’s book author, illustrator and TV cartoonist. Mike’s body of work includes more than 35 nationally-recognized picture books, wordplay books, how-to books and non-fiction books. Mike has also written and illustrated teacher and parent resource books on subjects as diverse as ecology, parties, cartooning and young authorship. In addition
to his work as an author and illustrator, Mike also has extensive experience as:

- A musician who plays guitar, keyboard and blues harmonica.
- A storyteller who regularly performs original poems and tales.
- A newspaper editorial cartoonist.
- A magazine and greeting card writer and cartoonist.
- A keynote speaker and humorist.
- The host of his own television cartooning show.

Many of Mike’s books have been award-winners. Most recently, Mike’s book, PETITE ROUGE - A Cajun Red Riding Hood was named by the National Association of Elementary School Principals as its 2009 Read Aloud Book of the Year. PETITE ROUGE has also become a musical theatre production which has been staged at many theatres across the U.S. and in England.  Mike’s astronomy book titled, STARRY SKIES, was named a Best Science Book For Children by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Mike’s books have also been named “Pick of the Lists” by Publisher’s Weekly, “Top 100” by Curriculum Administrator Magazine and “Teacher’s Choice” by Learning Magazine.

Mike is a popular platform speaker and has addressed scores of major educational, business and healthcare organizations on the subjects of humor and creativity and their importance to our personal and professional lives. Mike has a B.A. in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana.

Payment and Cancellation Policy:

As soon as you complete the registration process, you will be guaranteed a seat at this event. The completed registration process initiates an invoice from your ASTD Baton Rouge Chapter to you that may be paid online, by mail, or on the day of the event.

Your ASTD Baton Rouge Chapter may have to pay for your meal and other fees if you register and then cannot attend.  To help us protect your chapter’s finances, please submit cancellations at least 48 hours before the event.  Otherwise, we will have to invoice you to cover these costs.  If that should happen, we will be happy to receive your registration for future events as soon as you have settled your outstanding balance.  

What happens if I register and then cannot attend an event?
 
If you cancel at least 48 hours in advance, you will not be charged.  If you already made payment, we will be happy to issue a refund to you.  If you cannot cancel before 48 hours, you are welcome to send a substitute in your place.  Just send an email to vphospitality@br.astd.org so that we can have materials prepared for that person.  This helps us ensure the person feels as welcomed as possible.
