    ASTD Baton Rouge Chapter : Leah Tate, President

    Kimberly Seeger, CPLP of ASTD Baton Rouge Chapter
    Selected for ASTD’s National Advisors for Chapters

    Baton Rouge, Louisiana, December 20, 2012 – Kimberly Seeger, President of Learniappe, LLC has been selected to serve on the National Advisors for Chapters (NAC) of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) for a three-year term (2013-2015). The NAC is charged with providing strategic direction and leadership in the development and support of ASTD chapters and members.

    As a volunteer group of distinguished chapter leaders, the NAC carries out the following functions:

    •    advising and coaching chapters about ASTD initiatives
    •    linking chapters with common needs
    •    identifying and sharing best practices
    •    advising ASTD staff about issues of importance to chapters
    •    identifying and examining future roles for chapters
    •    bringing issues of interest to chapters to the attention of the Board of Directors
    •    ensuring that the needs of chapters are recognized by the Society.

    Seeger served as 2009 President of ASTD Baton Rouge Chapter and has been a presenter for the International Conference and Exposition (ICE).  Seeger’s company Learniappe, designs and delivers innovative learning solutions to corporate, government and non-profit organizations to help people ‘learn something extra’.  She is a Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP) and completed her Masters of Science at Louisiana State University.

    December 3 - 7, 2012, marks ASTD Employee Learning Week.  This celebration is held annually to promote the workplace learning and performance (WLP) profession and the role WLP professionals have in improving employee performance in the workplace.  In Louisiana, Governor Bobby Jindal has officially proclaimed ASTD Employee Learning Week.  Professionals and organizations are encouraged to promote employee learning through training and awareness activities all throughout this week.  ASTD Baton Rouge hosts their annual holiday party as a way to promote and celebrate workplace learning and performance.  If you are looking for ideas on how to promote ASTD Employee Learning Week, ASTD has a website that provides information and ideas for promoting ASTD Employee Learning Week in your organization.    Does your organization have something planned?  E-mail our chapter to let us know!

    Did you know that our August 23rd chapter meeting will be held at the Louisiana Transportation Research Center on the LSU Campus?  The LTRC is located at 4099 Gourrier Avenue.  For more information about LTRC please visit their website: or check out this Google map

    Our meeting schedule will still be the same with check in and networking starting at 11:30.  Our meeting will be from 12 - 1 pm and lunch will be provided.

    We have been asked to park on the concrete parking spots as the asphalt spots are for LSU.
