You may notice that we are filling fewer board positions this year.  For the first time, our chapter will offer new, non-voted positions in chapter leadership.  These positions, called Program Managers, will work with elected chapter leaders on targeted programs or projects for the chapter.  Program Manager roles are ideal for individuals who are  interested in chapter leadership, but not ready to make the commitment to attend things like board meetings regularly.  The following Program Manager positions are available for 2014:

    • Social Media Program Manager
    • Community Engagement Program Manager
    • Professional Development Program Manager
    • Publications Program Manager
    • Hospitality Program Manager

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTDBR) is excited and honored to announce the award and title of ASTD’s June 2013 Chapter of the Month. Through hard work and dedication, ASTDBR achieved CORE for 2012. Each year, ASTD provides chapters with 18 requirements and goals that local chapters must meet.  This year, ASTDBR was recognized for achieving 100% CORE compliance by successfully meeting all 18 requirements. In addition, ASTDBR submitted a Sharing Our Success (SOS) best practice for its “Volunteer Recruitment” program which emphasizes various ways to recruit and retain volunteers. It is one of the chapter’s top priorities to inform our community of local volunteer opportunities to promote interaction and engagement with learning professionals in the area.
